Hiking trails, cycle paths and bridleways - under your own steam
If you would like to explore the Eifel National Park under your own steam, there are all sorts of possibilities:
- the network of hiking trails
- the four-day Wilderness Trail crossing the Eifel National Park
- specially marked round tours
- the "Creation Path", for a spiritual approach to nature
- cycle paths
- bridleways
- ships on the Rur Lake and Obersee reservoirs for round tours or to shorten your hike
- cross-country skiing tracks in winters with a lot of snow
- Tours in horse-drawn carriages on the Dreiborn plateau
- Vogelsang and other sights, and various recreation programmes attracting people to the National Park region.
A small section of the 300 km long Eifelsteig (in German) trail from Aachen to Trier also runs through the National Park.
When in the protected area, please make sure you observe the rules that apply in the Eifel National Park.
For individual hiking groups it might be an idea to book a forest guide. That way you will have an expert to hand and yet still be amongst yourselves.
Hiking and cycling without luggage: why not take advantage of one of the "easy-life" packages offered by tourist offices and National Park hosts?
